WATCH: When FOCUS Was John the Baptist
, January 18, 2020
Father Meinrad Miller speaks about the founding of FOCUS (the Fellowship of Catholic University Students) at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, in his remarks about the Second Sunday of Ordinary Time (Year A).
We repeat John the Baptist’s words, “Behold the Lamb of God,” at every Mass, says Father Meinrad, “Yet so many do not recognize him.”
He added: “Twenty-two years ago this month we had the first FOCUS conference here at Benedictine College with Curtis Martin and Ted Sri. from the very beginnings of that, people started to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.”
Father Meinrad speaks about the origins of FOCUS at greater length in the Gregorian article “25 Years Ago, He Sensed God’s Plans for Benedictine.”
Father Meinrad is a monk of St. Benedict’s Abbey and teaches theology instructor at Benedictine College. St. Benedict Abbey’s 60 Seconds for Sunday series looks at each upcoming Sunday’s readings.
The monks at the Abbey, along with the Benedictine Sisters at Mount St. Scholastica, are what make Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., Benedictine.
