Ravens Lead in Mental Health Service

The Gregorian Fellows Leadership Program at Benedictine College promotes Catholic identity in public life by forming a new generation of leaders who unite faith and reason in their work. On Fellows Fridays, the Gregorian Institute will introduce you to some of these extraordinary students.

Kylie Mulholland is in intern at the Sisters of St. Mary’s Outpatient Behavioral Clinic in Jefferson City, Mo., this summer.

Kylie is a Psychology and Theology major from the class of 2020. Sisters of St. Mary (SSM) Health is a Catholic, not-for-profit, hospital-based service that provides “mental-health brief treatment programs as well as transitional outpatient programs.”

Kylie shadowed therapists whose patients suffer from chronic mental illnesses, observed psychiatrist’s prescription process, and lead varying group therapy sessions. She’s enjoyed “connecting with patients” and integrating what she’s learned at Benedictine into this complex field.

Angela Hunt is a bachelor level counseling intern for Fernbrook Family Center in Minnesota this summer.

Angela is a Psychology major and a Mass Communications and Journalism minor, class of 2020, from Rochester, Minn.

“I work alongside certified mental health professionals to provide counseling services to families.” She’s found this to be an eye-opening experience to the needs and struggles that people face.

She wanted to work in a counseling center where she could “help with emotional problems people struggle with” and act on her passion to help people reach their potential.
