IMAGES: Move-in Day With the Monks

Classes began this week at Benedictine College. That means last weekend the monks of St. Benedict’s Abbey on campus helped new students as they moved into their dorm rooms.

St. Benedict’s Abbey published a slideshow of photos from the day (see a few of them below) and quoted Benedictine College President Stephen D. Minnis.

“We’re always excited to have the monks join us as a part of move in day,” President Minnis said, “it’s a tremendous demonstration of Benedictine hospitality to have them help us welcome our new students to campus.  Their presence also provides a calming influence, ensuring the parents that their children are in good hands here at Benedictine College.”

No matter their rank, monks helped out. That included Abbot James Albers OSB, above …

… and new postulant Marty Anderson.

For Benedictine College Chaplain Father Simon Baker OSB, it was a chance to meet his flock …

While Abbey Vocations Director Brother Leven Harton was probably scoping out prospects.

Junior Monk Brother Pius and novice Brother Florian helped out.

Driving on to campus, cars were greeted by Brother Pius, Brother Jerome and Father Gabriel.
