IMAGES: High Schoolers’ Deep Summer Dive Into the Faith

Nearly 200 high schoolers will have a lot to talk about in their “What I Did Last Summer” essays this Fall.

Benedictine College is hosting students in several programs for high school students. This week’s focus: BCYC Immersion, a week-long youth conference taking place on Benedictine College’s beautiful campus in Atchison, Kansas. Each participant chooses an area of interest, which they pursue in the afternoon throughout the week.

Immersion students meet for Mass and prayers with Father Simon Baker, OSB, Benedictine College’s chaplain, to get a taste of college faith life.

Participants gather each evening for fun … including an epic waterslide.

During the day, students take special classes from Benedictine professors. Here, the Leadership Track students hear from Benedictine College President Stephen D. Minnis.

In the mornings, the students fan out over campus to participate in Bible studies.

Tuesday night were the BCYC Olympics, which included bubble soccer …

… giant beach ball volleyball …

… and a three-legged race.

Academic tracks included biology labs …

… nursing students caring for pregnancy simulator Alice …

… voice students rehearsed …

… engineering track students poured metal artwork commemorating their time at BCYC Immersion …

… while other BCYC engineering students made mini-cars with a 3-D printer …

… and then raced them.

The week ended with presentations from each track …

… showing the fruits of their labors.

Parents were invited to the final Voice Track concert …

… and everyone got a copy of the group photo.
